Overview

The East End Cultural District is a vibrant and historic area in Northeast Oklahoma City with deep cultural roots and untapped potential. The leadership team engaged Apparent Creative to develop a brand identity that would honor the neighborhood’s past while positioning it as a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.
The goal was to create a cohesive and contemporary brand system that preserved the soul of the district while giving stakeholders the tools to tell its evolving story.

The Challenge

East End OKC needed a brand that could:
1. Honor the area’s Black cultural legacy and community landmarks
2. Appeal to tourism, economic development, and public art audiences
3. Function across web, print, signage, and mobile
4. Establish visual consistency for a wide variety of content types
5. The brand needed to feel historic but not dated, bold but not overpowering, and most importantly—authentic to its community.
The Solution
Apparent Creative led the project from strategy to execution, delivering a fully systematized identity with an adaptable, asset-rich toolkit.

Brand Identity
We designed a custom wordmark inspired by vernacular signage and the layered history of East OKC. The stacked and mirrored "East End" logotype nods to duality—heritage and future, past and progress—while asserting a bold presence across materials.

Visual Language
We created a type-forward aesthetic using expressive, editorial typography paired with circular imagery to frame both archival photos and modern destinations. The neutral palette grounds the brand in professionalism, while the orange accent injects warmth and approachability.
